The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Writer's picture: The Book SistersThe Book Sisters

You just had to go and make me fall for you, she thought blinking against his skin. You absolute ass.”

My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

‘The love hypothesis’ is about a professor (Adam Carlsen) and a third-year PhD student (Olive Smith) who fake-date to convince her friend, Ahn, to date Olive’s ex whom she likes. But soon, Adam and Olive discover that their feelings for each other are genuine as they spend more time as fake partners.

I would like to start off my suing the author for making me fall for another fictional man, he is unfairly hot and respectful. Please, hit me up if you are a grumpy professor, scared of needles and is willing to get me coffee every Wednesday at Starbucks. Thank you <3

I am very grateful for thi

s book as it got me somewhat back into reading and discovering a passion for them. I genuinely couldn’t put the book down and managed to finish it in roughly 3 days. I am surprised because it’s very rare for me to even finish a book, nonetheless read it so quickly!

I loved mostly all characters and saw major development when it came to Olive and Adam. It honestly was adorable how they bring the best out of each other and manage to show what a healthy relationship looks like. The book depicts light-hearted and more harsh topics which I truly makes you dissociate from reality as you are immersed into the story as if you were living it in a 3rd view prospective. It honestly has all of the things I like in a book such as: slow-burn, fake dating trope, women in STEM, sunshine x grumpy, communication (y’all read it right, a couple that finally talks out their worries to each other and deals with it like an adult should), dialogue that will make you walk around your house at least 5 times for how adorable it is, and finally, a well-written smut/spicy scene which personally made me grip on the walls of my room. If after reading all of that you are still not convinced, let me bless you with two words: Reylo fan fiction.

I don’t have any significant changes that I would like to be made but I would say that as much as I enjoyed reading Olive’s prospective, it truly made me forget if was written in 3rd person, which had great potential for Adam’s point of view in the story but wasn’t acted upon. I also

would like the author to state possible trigger warnings because there is a scene where could upset many readers. ( I cannot describe too much as it can be a spoiler)

Bye-bye,

Lorena
